Hey, my name is Faatimah and I’m from Cape Town, South Africa. I’ve always enjoyed art and the creative side of things.

In 2012 I started creating mosaic art and in 2021 I discovered resin art, and I fell in love – the colors, designs, combinations, and endless possibilities.

However, my resin journey started off a bit rocky and almost ended as quickly as it began. For my first piece, I decided to create coasters. I had 10 molds laid out, my pigments and inserts were ready and I mixed my first batch of resin. I made one-half green and the other half was clear with gold leaf foil. And that was it for me. I packed everything up and didn’t want to look at resin.

I felt so overwhelmed, there were bubbles everywhere and the entire process was way more complicated than all those YouTube videos I had watched.

So I decided to take a step back, rethink my plan and rather start off small, very small. I started making resin keychains and bookmarks until I was completely comfortable with the resin-creating process. I then slowly introduced bigger pieces to my product range.

My passion for resin art has since grown and I’m now the owner of a small business, PrettyBits. Creating a product with your hands and seeing the end result is what gets me every time! My skills have been challenged and I feel that is a key driving point in pushing your creativity, getting out of your comfort zone, and taking your art and products to the next level. What I love most about resin art is that there is no right or wrong way when it comes to product designs – you are free to let your imagination run wild.
I hope my passion for resin comes across and inspires your creative talent.
